Literacy Action Center
I’ve been fortunate to volunteer as a tutor at the Literacy Action Center since 2016. LAC is a Salt Lake City nonprofit helping to educate adults with limited reading, writing, or math skills. I explored a potential rebranding and web redesign in 2019.
Beginning with sketches, I sought to capture the diverse students and warm, friendly nature of LAC in my designs.
The final icon was based on a redesign of LAC's existing emblem. The original logo has excellent concepts but too much text and detail for reproduction in small format. My redesign incorporates the same concept in a simpler, badge-based icon that uses the book's negative space to form a heart.
I also made a quick, rough web mockup for a potential website. The design was never finished, but it explored what pages and functionality would be required.
