The Chrony
A Year as a Staff Writer for the Daily Utah Chronicle.
In 2015 I joined the staff of the Daily Utah Chronicle, "The Chrony," at the University of Utah. It was a fantastic opportunity to hone my writing and editing and delve into new, journalistic skills.
Most articles were assigned to me, but on others I was able to pick a topic and research in depth. A university is a great place to be a journalist, there are constantly events happening, studies being published, and if nothing else, an environment of learning and contrasting opinions
One of the highlights of my time at the Chronicle was when Mitt Romney came to speak. His topic, controversial at the time, was denouncing then-candidate Donald Trump. It was great to be in the press box with top news agencies from across the country.
My article required a quick turnaround for our online site, and generated high views. I was subsequently invited to a local radio station, KRCL, to discuss the speech on their program, RadioActive.
